Adding a CareerTech Area of Certification
The requirement for adding a CareerTech area of certification to an already valid standard teaching certificate is as follows
- Attending the divisional New Teacher Academy
- Submitting the required occupational competency or passing the required subject area exam
Areas available to add with a passing score of the appropriate subject area exam - Praxis or OSAT are both accepted
- 7550 – Agriculture Education
- 7501 – Marketing Education
- 7514 – CareerTech Business
- 7575 – CareerTech Family & Consumer Science
- 8550 – Technology Engineering
Areas available to add through occupational competency
- 7559 – Occupational Family & Consumer Science
- 7509 – Trade & Industrial Education
CareerTech Health Occupations
A teacher with an approved health industry credential may add health occupations to an existing standard certificate by completing either 12 credit hours of professional education courses or 180 hours of approved professional development.
Standard Certificate in School Nurse
If you are employed to teach at a technology center, you can apply for the standard in school nurse with CareerTech Teacher Certification by completing the Provisional Certification Application Checklist.
If you are applying for a standard in school nurse to be a K-12 district nurse, you will need to apply for your certification through OSDE – Teacher Certification.
