APA WF 22-14 Coverage for Donor Human Breast Milk

These rule changes were previously approved by the OHCA Board of Directors and the Governor and are currently in effect as emergency rules. Due to Oklahoma Statutes, these rules must be taken through the permanent rulemaking process.

This benefit will be added as a new service and will be covered under the Medical Suppliers section of policy. These rules will outline medical necessity, provider qualifications, coverage, and reimbursement for donor human breast milk.  Further proposed revisions to the Enteral Nutrition section of policy will remove human breast milk as a non-covered item.

This should be approved and passed to cover donor breastmilk as a mom who breastfeed and suffered a severe brown recluse spider bite I was also allergic to I started to struggle to supply breastmilk and my daughter couldnt handle any formula we tried but hospitals wont allow donor milk unless its nicu babies and it was expensive out of pocket $1/ per oz. This will help so babies.

Thank you for your comment. This rule is already in effect as an approved emergency rule and is now being taken through the permanent rulemaking process.
