First in the Nation!!

Oklahoma was the first state to approve eligible medical professionals for payments through the Oklahoma Electronic Health Records Incentive Program. The Oklahoma EHR incentive program is part of a federal grant program in which 100 percent of incentive payments are federal dollars.

“Oklahomans are fortunate to have medical professionals who care about improving patient care through available improvements in the usage of electronic health records,” said Garth L. Splinter, M.D., M.B.A., state Medicaid director. “This is a huge accomplishment for this practice and for the State of Oklahoma.”

Congratulations to Dr. Cynthia Taylor of the Norman Regional Health System (NRHS), and Drs. Jeff and Melissa Gastorf of Gastorf Family Clinic in Durant on being part of the first payments to eligible professionals in the country.

Additional recognition should be given to Oklahoma’s Regional Extension Center, the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality (OFMQ), who have been working with the Gastorfs on implementation of a certified record, as well as working with the Gastorfs and Norman Regional to assist in achieving meaningful use.

At the federal level, a certification process has been defined to identify EHR systems that will meet federal incentive program requirements. For more information on the federal rules and to register with the Medicare & Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Registration and Attestation System, visit the CMS EHR Incentive Program website at https://ehrincentives.cms.gov/hitech/login.action

In order to register you will be required to input name, individual NPI or hospital CCN, contact information and the Tax Identification Number (TIN) of who will receive the incentive payment. At the time of registration, there will be a field to enter the CMS certification number of your certified EHR system. This is not a required field at the time of registration but must be completed prior to attestation. Be sure to record your CMS registration number at the end of the registration process. Wait two business days before you return to this site to begin your online attestation with OHCA.
