Missing & Murdered Indigenous Peoples Subcommittee

About Us

The Subcommittee unites community members, tribal partners, and stakeholders dedicated to addressing Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP). We work together to strengthen support systems and advance meaningful solutions for Indigenous communities.

Why MMIP?

MMIP initiatives are especially important in Oklahoma, home to one of the largest Indigenous populations in the country. These efforts strengthen coordination among tribal, local, and state partners, improve responses to cases, and ensure Indigenous families receive the attention and support they deserve.

Listening Sessions

The MMIP Subcommittee will host listening sessions to deepen our understanding of the barriers faced in MMIP cases. Two sessions will be held concurrently: one with family members of MMIP individuals and victim advocates, and a second with law enforcement, prosecutors, and tribal advocates.
