Victim Services Training

Oklahoma Victim Assistance Academy (OVAA)

The OVAA Academy is an intensive week-long course of study designed to improve the quality and consistency of victim services in Oklahoma. It is open to victim advocates, service providers, law enforcement professionals and social service providers who work directly with crime victims in any capacity in a paid or volunteer position.

Participating in OVAA is based upon an application selection process. Those wishing to participate in OVAA must apply to the program and meet the following criteria:

  • Eligible professions: victim advocates, victim witness coordinators, law enforcement professionals, and social service providers with less than five years of experience.
  • Must serve in a paid or volunteer position having direct contact with Oklahoma victims of crime.

The OVAA Academy is a week-long intensive course of study for crime victim service providers with less than five years of experience and designed to improve the quality and consistency of victim services in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Partners for Change Conference

The Oklahoma Partners for Change Conference is held annually each fall. The Attorney General and partner agencies provide this two-day statewide conference on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human sex trafficking to enhance knowledge among state and tribal professionals, including law enforcement officers, advocates, prosecutors, judges and allied professionals.

Batterers Intervention Program Facilitator Training

Participants receive a comprehensive introduction to OAG Standards and Criteria for Batterers Intervention Programs. This training is not a certification but is presented to fulfill orientation training requirements in certification standards (OAC 75:25-5-21). Trainings are held twice a year, one in the spring and one in the fall.

The next Batterers Intervention Facilitator Training will be held April 29- May 1, 2026 , at the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office, located at 313 NE 21st St, Oklahoma City, OK 73105.

DVSA Expert Witness Training

The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office will host a two-day, in-person DV/SA Expert Witness Training on September 17–18, 2026. This intensive training is designed for domestic violence and sexual assault advocates and attorneys seeking to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and confidence in serving as expert witnesses or effectively utilizing expert witnesses in civil and criminal proceedings involving domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and coercive control. Participants will explore Oklahoma’s standards for expert testimony, courtroom roles and procedures, ethics and the appropriate scope of expert testimony, expert qualification and opinion formulation, examination and cross-examination strategies, and effective collaboration between advocates and attorneys. The training will also include hands-on courtroom exercises that allow participants to practice qualifying as an expert, providing testimony, and responding to cross-examination in a realistic courtroom setting. Location: To Be Determined.
