Fatal Childhood Injury Data Dashboard
This dashboard provides an overview of unintentional injury deaths among Oklahoma children aged 0-19 years. It displays injury deaths in terms of counts, rates, and trend by injury mechanism and demographics such as age group, sex, race/ethnicity, and county of residence.
Data reflect Oklahoma resident deaths that occurred in Oklahoma from 2019 to 2023. Counts and rates are suppressed for less than five deaths. Some rates are based on small counts and should be interpreted with caution.
Data include unintentional manner deaths for all mechanisms except Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), which includes both unintentional and undetermined manner deaths. SUID refers to the death of an infant less than 1 year of age that occurs suddenly and unexpectedly, and whose cause of death is not immediately obvious before investigation. Most SUIDs are reported as one of three types: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), unknown cause, and accidental suffocation and strangulation in bed (ASSB). Stillbirths and intrauterine fetal deaths are excluded.
The reported death rates are crude rates and are expressed per 100,000 population.
U.S. Census Bureau population (denominator) data were used to compute rates.
