Inflatable Safety Starts Before the First Jump

Inflatable amusement devices—including bounce houses, inflatable slides, obstacle courses, and interactive inflatables—bring excitement to thousands of events across Oklahoma every year.

When they're properly installed, anchored, and operated, they're a great source of fun. But when they're not, they can become dangerous—especially in Oklahoma's unpredictable weather.

Inflatables Are Regulated in Oklahoma

Any inflatable amusement ride that is used commercially or in a public setting must be:

  • Registered annually with ODOL
  • Inspected by a certified ODOL inspector
  • Covered by liability insurance

Look for the Sticker

The official Oklahoma Department of Labor inspection sticker tells you the inflatable has successfully completed a state inspection and is operating legally.

If there’s no sticker, that’s a red flag.

This sticker is issued only after a ride has passed inspection and confirms that:

  • The owner/operator has been instructed to use appropriate stakes to securely anchor the inflatable

  • Blower and electrical components of the inflatable are safe

  • Appropriate safety signs and mats are being used

  • Supervision and operational practices of the owner/operator meet state standards

If the inflatable isn’t secured, lacks supervision, or just doesn’t look right, trust your instincts and ask questions before anyone starts playing.

What You Can Do as a Parent or Event Organizer

If you're renting or hosting an inflatable:

  • Choose a reputable operator
  • Ask the operator to show proof of ODOL registration and inspection
  • Look for a current-year inspection sticker
  • Make sure the inflatable is supervised
  • Follow all posted safety rules

Find An Approved Inflatable Operator

Before signing a rental agreement, verify the operator is registered with the Oklahoma Department of Labor.

A Lower Price Isn't Worth the Risk

While some operators may offer lower prices, hiring a non-compliant company could come at a higher cost. If the inflatable isn’t registered and inspected, the operator’s insurance may not be valid in the event of an accident—putting you, your guests, and your property at risk.

Report an Unsafe Inflatable

If you notice an inflatable operating without an inspection sticker, appears improperly anchored, or is being operated unsafely, we'd like to know.
