Public Health Laboratory

Prevention and Preparedness Service

The Oklahoma State Public Health Laboratory shall implement and provide essential public health laboratory services to State and County Health Departments, Agency Programs, and Private Health Providers consistent with the public health goals of the Oklahoma State Board of Health.

These include:

  • Analytical services for the State Department of Health, local government and tribal units, health care practitioners, and private citizens;
  • Specialized public health laboratory procedures and reference testing
  • Training, technical assistance and consultation for private clinical laboratories of Oklahoma;
  • Guidance and training for detection and identification of a terrorist event;

**Please note: Effective Tuesday, August 31, the Public Health Lab will no longer accept BD tubes for **Chlamydia and Gonorrhea** samples. If received, the requisitions will be cancelled. All Chlamydia and Gonorrhea must be received in the Hologic Aptima tubes.   

If a County site or Community organization needs the Hologic Aptima tubes, they must notify Janet Jones and the Public Health Lab immediately. 

Effective Monday, Sept. 13, animal samples sent for **Rabies** testing must be shipped to the address below for processing. Through Friday, Sept. 10, animal rabies testing will continue at the Public Health Lab on 10th Street location in Oklahoma City.
