The Office of Teacher Certification ensures that educators are properly credentialed and provides technical assistance to school districts, teachers, and college administrators regarding certification.

Paper Applications

  • Teacher Certification is no longer accepting paper applications or forms.
  • Any applications saved across district devices must be deleted and all paper applications disposed of.
  • If you cannot locate the application you need online, please contact us.

Transition to OECS 2.0

We appreciate your patience with the changes to emergency request timelines this summer. This transition represents the most significant upgrade to the Oklahoma Educator Certification System (OECS) in over 17 years, and it will bring meaningful improvements to how districts and educators manage every stage of the application process.

 

Please see the timeline of the launch below as it may affect your operations:

 

  • August 23rd- Deadline to submit emergency applications for the September board meeting
  • August 27th- OECS will shut down at 4:30 p.m. through August 30th to prepare for the launch of OECS 2.0
  • August 28th- Teacher Certification Office will be closed for staff training
  • August 31st- OECS 2.0 goes live!

Emergency Certification Portal UPDATE: August 13, 2026 

  • Certification OR dual results background checks must be completed prior to the educator applying for the emergency certification.
  • Supporting documentation must be submitted no later than two weeks before the scheduled board meeting.
  • To be considered for the September 24, 2026 agenda, applications must be submitted by August 23, 2026, and corrections to supporting documentation must be submitted by September 10. Applications for the September agenda are due August 23, 2026 to accommodate the launch of OECS 2.0.
  • To be considered for the October 22, 2026 agenda, applications must be submitted by September 30, 2026, and corrections to supporting documentation must be submitted by October 8. 

Fee Change: Career Development Program Provisional Certificate

As part of the upcoming migration to a modernized certification system, the fee for a provisional certificate issued through the Career Development Program will move from $30 to $50. This adjustment brings the certificate into alignment with the $50 fee already in place for other provisional and standard certificates. Additional details on the migration timeline and the effective date of the new fee will follow in upcoming communications.

Walk-in Policy: In an effort to deliver top-notch customer service, ALL visitors to the Teacher Certification Section must have a scheduled appointment. You may schedule a Fingerprinting Appointment (click here).  Certification Specialists are not available for appointments.
