NERIS Onboarding How-To

Complete as much of the information on your department page as possible. A logo and website are not required, but the information can be added if your department has them.

At the end of the form, select the confirmation check box, then select 'Submit' Both are highlighted in the image with yellow boxes. Once your department is confirmed, the shaded blue box will disappear (circled in red).

Any admin will be able to return to this page and edit / update the information.

Below the department confirmation is a heading for Stations. Select the three dots on the right, under the 'Actions' column, then select 'Edit / View'

This page is specific to the station you are entering. You can confirm / change the address, or drag the map to show the correct location, and add the trucks.

To add units, select the ' + Add Unit'. You will be able to list the type of apparatus, the name / call sign, and the minimum staffing required for it. 

*This list will show up in your incident report for you to choose from when filling out a report*

*If you have a Records Management System (RMS), skip to Step 9*

To activate your department's reporting capability, select the 'Helpdesk' link. There is one at the bottom of the menu on the left side of the screen.

In the Helpdesk screen, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to select the link with a green plus sign that says 'Request Direct Incident Logging in NERIS'.

Dont forget to click the 'Submit' button!

Once the request is submitted and the NERIS team confirms you have completed the required information, they will activate your department's reporting capability. You will see a 'Log an Incident' button at the top of the left-side menu. When you click it, you'll be able to begin an incident report, or log a 'no activity' report.

Use the no activity report to confirm the department has not had any incidents in a calendar month of their choosing, so it doesn't think you just haven't submitted them yet. 
 

To activate reporting capability if your department uses a Records Management System (RMS), and it's one of the RMS who are compatible with NERIS (see list here), you will need to request your Client ID from that company.

When you have the Client ID from them, paste it in the box within the 'Enrollments' tab and select 'Enroll Integration'.

Note: Work with your 3rd party RMS vendor to see if they have additional steps they need on their end, and to tell them when to switch over.
