Despite Oklahoma banning smoking in most enclosed public spaces like restaurants, schools and government buildings, significant gaps leave workers vulnerable to secondhand smoke. Hotels, bars and in-home daycares (when children aren't present) are exempt from the law, and some employers are not required to provide smoke-free environments for their staff.

Secondhand smoke is a Class A carcinogen containing 70 known cancer-causing chemicals and it kills nearly 34,000 nonsmoking Americans annually. Still, a large portion of Oklahoma's workforce remains unprotected under current regulations. Here’s what you need to know.
