State WIC/Nursing Conference and Breastfeeding Symposium

March 27-29, 2023
Embassy Suites, Norman

About the Conference

WIC Service and Nursing Service have been joined together in hosting the first State WIC/Nursing Conference and Breastfeeding Symposium for Healthcare Providers. The 3-day conference will be held March 27th – 29th, 2023 at the Embassy Suites in Norman. The first 2 days of the conference are relevant for all WIC and nursing staff. By attending these sessions, clinic staff will explore ways to maximize the effectiveness of nutrition education, enhance nursing skills, network with hundreds of healthcare professionals from across the state and earn continuing education hours pertaining to their profession. These first 2 days will offer 3 available tracks: Nutrition, Clerical, and Nursing. Staff will have the ability to choose sessions that interest them from any of these tracks.

The third day will focus on breastfeeding and nursing. The breastfeeding training will enhance the knowledge of peer counselors, breastfeeding educators, lactation consultants, and healthcare professionals who would like to expand their breastfeeding knowledge. The nursing track will assist in further advancing the knowledge and skillset for nursing professionals. This conference will offer professional development opportunities for nursing and Registered Dietitian CEUs. Application for Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) has been submitted to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.
