May Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, May 6

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s mon­thly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media are invited to attend or watch the livestream video online.

Items to be addressed at the meeting:

  • The Oklahoma Transportation Commissioners will receive an update on the storm debris clean-up efforts in South and Southcentral Oklahoma. 
  • Highlighted will be three national awards for the department’s Monarch butterfly conservation efforts and a recognition of a Beautification Lifetime Achievement award. 
  • Commissioners will be briefed on the progress of the I-235 bridge rehabilitation project at I-40 in Oklahoma City and its impact to local traffic.
  • The commission will vote on whether to award several contracts, among them two projects to resurface and add shoulders to rural, two-lane highways, one located on US-59 near Stilwell in Adair County and another on US-259 near Idabel in McCurtain County.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
